Completely new to EVE Frontier?

You might have seen a Pelusium ad before you knew what EVE Frontier or crypto even means. That is fine. This page starts from zero and walks you through the game, your wallet, SSUs, and how Pelusium fits in.

Already playing and just want Pelusium steps? Skip to Get started.

What is EVE Frontier?

EVE Frontier is a space sandbox where you build bases, haul cargo, and trade with other players. Much of the world runs on the Sui blockchain — which sounds technical, but in practice the game gives you a wallet and handles most of the hard parts.

To play:

  1. Download the launcher from evefrontier.com/en/download (Windows or Mac).
  2. Install, create your account, and log in.
  3. Play for a bit before worrying about Pelusium — you need a character and usually at least one Smart Storage Unit (SSU) at a base before logistics tools matter.

EVE Frontier is dangerous. Player factions go to war with each other. Combat is part of the sandbox — not a side mode. Pirates and looters hunt haulers and unsecured bases, trying to take your ship, your cargo, and anything you left exposed. Pelusium helps you coordinate freight and lock payment — it does not make space safe. Scout routes, fly with allies when you can, and never move more than you can afford to lose.

Pelusium is a community logistics app for Frontier players. It is not the official game client. You use it alongside the game in a browser (or the in-game browser on a Smart Assembly).

Two wallets, two jobs

You will hear “wallet” a lot. They are not interchangeable. Use the right one for the right job:

EVE Vault (game wallet)Coinbase (exchange — optional)
What it isThe official EVE Frontier wallet and identity — Chrome extension, tied to your game accountA separate website/app for buying and selling crypto for regular money (bank, card)
Use it forPlaying EVE Frontier, connecting Pelusium, signing freight jobs, holding SUI you earn from hauls, linking your characterOnly turning mainnet SUI into cash after you deliberately send it out of EVE Vault
Do not use it forYour Coinbase login, bank withdrawals, or “storing dollars”Logging into the game, opening Pelusium, authorizing SSUs, or receiving escrow payouts
When you need itDay one — before or as you start playingLater, and only on mainnet — skip entirely while Pelusium is on testnet
How money movesPelusium pays couriers/sellers here when a freight job completesYou send SUI from EVE Vault → Coinbase, then sell → withdraw to bank (see Getting paid)

Rule of thumb: In the game or on Pelusium → EVE Vault. Selling SUI for dollars → Coinbase, and only after you choose to move coins out of EVE Vault yourself.

EVE Vault is the official Frontier wallet (Wallets & Identity). It uses zkLogin — you sign in with your Frontier account, no seed phrase to write down.

Coinbase is suggested here as a simple off-ramp for now. It is not part of EVE Frontier and not where Pelusium sends escrow — you still play and get paid through EVE Vault first.

Set up EVE Vault

  1. Install the EVE Vault Chrome extension from EVE Vault releases (download the zip from the latest release if needed).
  2. Open the extension and create your wallet with your EVE Frontier single sign-on — no manual backup phrase.
  3. In Pelusium, click Connect wallet and choose EVE Vault. Approve the connection prompt.
  4. Make sure your wallet network matches what Pelusium shows (today many deployments use Sui testnet — see the badge on the Pelusium home page).

You can also open Pelusium from inside the game: walk to a Smart Assembly (often an SSU), press F, and use the in-game browser. Details: Connecting in-game.

Some Pelusium actions need a small amount of SUI in EVE Vault for gas (network fees). Sponsored transactions cover some in-game assembly edits, but Pelusium freight steps usually spend gas from your wallet. On testnet you can use the Sui faucet if you run dry.

What is an SSU?

SSU means Smart Storage Unit — a player-built storage structure at your base or station. Think of it as a locker for cargo that also exists on-chain.

From the Storage Unit guide:

  • Primary inventory — the owner’s main storage on that unit.
  • Character / ephemeral slot — a temporary per-player slot on someone else’s SSU (used for trades and deliveries). Cargo can land here after a haul even when the in-game SSU panel only shows primary — see After delivery — SSU consolidate.

In the game:

  1. Build or visit an SSU at a structure you control or use.
  2. Press F to interact — the in-game browser opens the assembly’s dApp page.
  3. Deposit items into on-chain inventory when you want them available for contracts and extensions.

Pelusium names a pickup SSU and a drop-off SSU on every freight job. Before pickup or delivery can finish on-chain, the Pelusium extension must be authorized on those units — one-time permission per SSU. That is SSU & Pelusium setup.

What Pelusium adds

Pelusium helps you move cargo with locked payment:

  • Freight jobsSUI sits in escrow until a courier picks up at the pickup SSU and delivers at the drop-off SSU.
  • Shop & Cargo Well — find who is selling what and at what price. Listings help you coordinate; the freight job is what settles on-chain.

Read Introduction for the full picture, or Using the app for where each screen lives.

Some deployments are in preview mode while EVE Frontier world-contract support for cross-SSU delivery catches up. You can still browse, plan routes, and fill forms; final submit/sign may pause with an explanation in the app.

Getting paid and cashing out

Today: Pelusium on Sui testnet

If the Pelusium home page shows Sui testnet, escrow and payouts use testnet SUI. That is practice money — it has no real-world value and cannot be sold on Coinbase or withdrawn to a bank.

Use testnet to learn the flows: connect EVE Vault, authorize SSUs, browse jobs, and walk through forms. Treat any “payment” as a rehearsal.

Later: when Pelusium runs on mainnet

When Pelusium and your wallet are on Sui mainnet, couriers and sellers can receive mainnet SUI from completed freight jobs. If you want that turned into regular money (optional):

  1. Create a Coinbase account (or another exchange that supports SUI) — separate from EVE Vault. Complete their identity checks if required.
  2. In Coinbase, open ReceiveSUI → copy your Sui mainnet deposit address.
  3. In EVE Vault, send SUI only to that address. Start with a small test amount to confirm it arrives.
  4. On Coinbase, sell SUI for your local currency when you are ready.
  5. Withdraw to your bank per Coinbase’s instructions.

This is not financial advice. Exchanges charge fees, prices move, and you may owe taxes where you live. Always send on the correct network (Sui mainnet to Coinbase — never testnet SUI). Double-check the address character by character. Pelusium does not operate Coinbase or hold your exchange account.

In-game you may also see LUX and EVE Token in EVE Vault for other Frontier activity. Pelusium freight escrow uses SUI specifically — see Glossary.
